This & That: Revere, controversial License Commissioner steps down and in Winthrop, female cop gives new meaning to Protect & Serve
REVERE (correction: Michael Pepe not Henneberry resigned)
License Commission member steps down; former City Solicitors tapped for replacement -- Not more than a couple of weeks after the Revere City Council asked the License Commission to review their position regarding the 1 am license, did License member Mike Pepe resign. According to reports Henneberry submitted his resignation on Tuesday in the morning and by mid afternoon former City Solicitor Robert Marra was named to the post. The story is that Henneberry had enough with the demands and criticism he received for his position with Wonderland Dog Track. If you’ll remember, Pepe went against the wishes of the then Council President George Colella, the man he owed his position on the commission to; by voting to help Wonderland arrange payments for the money they owed the city. In a recent conversation with the Honorable George Colella, the Tab learned that Colella and Pepe have not spoken since the night the licensing meeting was moved quietly to the American Legion Hall with any public notice and the night Henneberry allegedly betrayed Colella. But that didn’t stop Colella from praising the former Licensing member. “He is an honorable and descent man, as is his family,” said Colella, “I don’t really know why he left so suddenly, but I have the utmost respect for him and his family.”

WINTHROP
To Protect & to serve cocktails? -- Far be it from me that I am upset of this morsel of information, but according to a few people that were in or near the Winthrop Police Station on New Year’s Eve, they got to see one of Winthrop’s babe cops dressed to kill, from what I’m told. According to sources, one of Winthrop’s female officers showed up in a waitress outfit New Year’s Eve and worked the entire shift in her “tip gathering” uniform. One source said she was on her way to a second job at the Squire in Revere, but that rumor was quickly killed. According to a few people the officer was actually on her way to a New Year’s Eve party following her shift. Hey, can I get a Captain? Oh, that’s right you only have a Deputy Chief…sorry. I’ll bet this gives a whole new meaning to Protect & Serve.
